"Worth your salt" is an interesting term and full of ancient meanings. I just finished a hub page where I combined this concept with the words of Jesus:
Mathew 5:13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savor, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot.
